Type what it sells for: what eBay, Poshmark, Mercari and Depop each take, and what you keep, side by side, from each app’s own fee page. Add the shipping and sales tax the buyer pays, or what you want to keep, for the price to list at.

Fees changed 14 Oct 2026: eBay’s currency conversion charge for US sellers went from 3% to 3.25%. It applies only when eBay converts your money for an item listed or sold on another eBay site (eBay.de, eBay.co.uk …); a dollar sale on ebay.com pays the same fees as before. eBay Help (and the page before the change), checked 2026-10-16.
Each app’s fee, in its own words
Fees from each app’s own page: Poshmark’s Fee Policy, Mercari Help, eBay Help (selling fees and Store selling fees) and Depop’s Help Centre. Checked 2026-09-26, 2026-10-05 and (eBay) 2026-10-16. Fees change: the tool is re-checked every three months. Ours: “you keep” assumes the shipping the buyer pays covers your label; tax is counted on the price and shipping.
Quick answer: on a $40 sale you keep $38.23 on Depop, $36.00 on Mercari, $34.16 on eBay and $32.00 on Poshmark. Depop charges 3.3% + $0.45, Mercari 10%, eBay 13.6% + $0.40 (less with a Basic Store), and Poshmark 20%, or a flat $2.95 under $15.
How to use it
Type what the piece sells for and tap what it is: eBay charges women’s bags and sneakers differently. Say whether you have an eBay Store. If the buyer pays shipping or sales tax, add them: eBay, Mercari and Depop take their share of the shipping, and eBay and Depop of the tax. Type what you want to keep, and the tool gives the lowest price to list at on each app. Not sure what it will sell for, or whether to consign it instead? The where to sell clothes calculator prices it by brand and condition and adds ThredUp and The RealReal; the closet declutter sorts what to keep, sell or donate.
Each app’s fee, from its own page
- Depop: “No Depop Selling fees will be charged to sellers based in the UK, US, or AUS.” The payment fee is 3.3% + $0.45, “charged on the item sale price plus shipping costs and any applicable taxes” (Depop Help Centre).
- Mercari: “A 10% selling fee of the combined amount of item price and buyer-paid shipping will be charged to the seller” (Mercari Help).
- eBay: “13.6% on total amount of the sale up to $7,500 calculated per item”, plus a per-order fee: “For orders $10.00 or less the per order fee is $0.30, for orders over $10.00 the per order fee is $0.40” (eBay Help). Women’s bags pay 15%; sneakers from $150 pay 8% and no per-order fee.
- Poshmark: “For sales under $15, the fee is a flat rate of $2.95. For sales $15 and above, the fee is 20% and you keep 80%” (Poshmark Fee Policy).
The tool counts sales tax on the price and the shipping, and “you keep” assumes the shipping the buyer pays covers your label: both are ours. Fees change, so the tool is re-checked against each page every three months.

An eBay Store, women’s bags and sneakers
“When you have an eBay Store, you get more listings with zero insertion fees and pay lower final value fees, compared to selling without a Store” (eBay Store selling fees). With a Basic, Premium, Anchor or Enterprise Store, most clothing pays 12.7%, women’s bags 13% up to $2,000, and sneakers from $150 pay 7% with no per-order fee. A Starter Store pays the standard rates. The Store itself costs $21.95 a month for Basic on a yearly plan ($27.95 monthly), so it pays only when you sell a lot.
Worked examples
A $60 dress, $8 shipping and 7% tax: you keep the most on Depop: $57.15; Mercari $53.20 · eBay $49.70 · Poshmark $48.00.
$180 sneakers: you keep the most on Depop: $173.61; eBay $165.60 at its 8% sneaker rate, ahead of Mercari $162.00 and Poshmark $144.00.
A $250 bag with an eBay Basic Store: you keep the most on Depop: $241.30; Mercari $225.00 · eBay $217.10 · Poshmark $200.00.
To keep $50: list at $52.17 on Depop, $55.56 on Mercari, $58.33 on eBay or $62.50 on Poshmark.
Common mistakes
- Pricing $14.99 on Poshmark to dodge 20%. Below $15 it is a flat $2.95: a $14.99 sale leaves $12.04 and a $15 one $12.00, so either works.
- Forgetting the fee on shipping. eBay, Mercari and Depop take their share of the shipping the buyer pays; set the shipping charge to cover the label and that share.
- Boosting on Depop. A Boosted listing adds 12% of the price to the 3.3% + $0.45.
